The members of the Baptist Church will vote next Tuesday night on retaining their present pastor, Rev. C. W. Teasdale. It is the desire of many that the church use its influence to retain Rev. Teasdale as he has the esteem of the community at large. T. B. O'Hara, administrator of the late Samuel O'Hara, of Munster township, on Saturday, sold the old homestead known as O'Hara's Mills in Munster township to H. S. Williams of Philadelphia for $5,000. Gertrude D. Englehart, having completed a course in shorthand has gone to Nantyglo to complete the term under B. J. Simons, principal of the Glenglade Schools. Mrs. Bowman, wife of Rev. E. M. Bowman, a former Presbyterian minister at Ebensburg, but now of Hollidaysburg, has been spending the week in Ebensburg. Myers entered bail before Justice Burgoon of Cresson for his appearance in court. Mrs. William Kimball, wife of proprietor "Bill" Kimball of the Metropolitan Hotel was pleasantly surprised Tuesday evening about 8:30 o'clock when a delegation of about 30 married ladies from about town filed into the Metropolitan and took the place by storm. Several hours were spent very pleasantly by the visitors - luncheon was served and at 12 o'clock they all departed for their homes. At a regular meeting of the borough council last evening the following appointments were made to constitute a board of health: Dr. Fremont C. Jones, five years; Harry A. Englehart, four years; F. S. Pannebaker with Mrs. E. H. Davis at the piano, was a feature of the evening. News from Blandburg As predicted in these columns, James Warner, Democrat, was elected Supervisor and all that in a township having 500 Republican votes. Lem Troxell, Democratic candidate for Assistant Assessor, went through like a jiffy and it seems that Emory Woods, Democratic aspirant for Collector, landed the job. And after all, Ed Spencer, ex-County Treasurer and Republican candidate for Supervisor lost the pull on his party and went down to defeat. An Irish woman said, "The Lord help us after all that." There is much sickness in town at present. Even the doctors are all more or less sick. Two children recently died in one family and little Eddie Scott, nearby, is slowly pulling through what was considered a hopeless case of pneumonia. Impure water is responsible for most of the sickness in this town. Next thing there may be an epidemic of typhoid fever. Brother Ill in California Anselm Shettig, Well Known in Ebensburg, Has Tuberculosis Ambrose Shettig, a member of the hardware firm of Shettig Brothers, of this place, Saturday afternoon, departed for San Diego, Cal., to visit his brother, Anselm, who is critically ill of tuberculosis. Anselm Shettig left Ebensburg about four years ago in search of health but has not been improving. He is a son of Adam Shettig formerly of Carroll township and who now resides at Carrolltown. Filled Can with Snow "What naughty, horrid, bad boys!" The ---! ---! Villains!" This from the girls and that from the boys as a compliment(?) to the fellows who stole the ice cream at a pretty little party Monday night. It seems that some of the boys were forgotten or overlooked when invitations to the affair were issued and they plotted vengeance. A nice time was had, however, even if there was no ice cream when luncheon was served. The party was given at the home of the Misses Vera and Myrtle Eckenrode. Those who did not eat any ice cream at the party are: Warren O'Hara, William Smith, Don Connell, Dolph Myers, Wilfred Blair, Paul Bearer, Charles Boney and Philip Bender; the Misses Emma and Hattie Pruner, Alberta Luther, Aline O'Hara;, Marguerite Davis, Ruth Connell, Margaret Griffith, Martha Jones, Martha G. Jones, Elsie Lloyd. Prizes were won by Ruth Connell and Warren O'Hara. The boys who were not invited also carried off a prize (Don't Shoot). They removed the ice cream from the freezer, carried it off and filled the freezer up with pure white snow.
