Arrested at Gettysburg Estimable Ebensburg Man under Arrest on Absurd Charge of Pocketpicking Word reached here from Gettysburg Wednesday that John McBreen, a well known citizen of this place, had been arrested and lodged in jail in that city on the charge of being a pickpocket. It seems from the advices received here over the telephone, that someone had been victimized by pickpockets and the excited individual doubtless becoming confused, pointed out Mr. McBreen to the police as the man who had robbed him. Mr. McBreen's friends here are endeavoring to straighten out the matter in some way. John McBreen is known to almost every resident of Ebensburg and has been in the employ of Landlord A. E. Bender at the Hotel Bender as a clerk for a number of years. He has always borne a good reputation and his friends are convinced that a mistake has been made. Mr. McBreen left here Tuesday with a number of other Ebensburgers to attend the reunion at Gettysburg and intended proceeding from that place to Harrisburg to attend the dedication of the state capitol Thursday. Oldham is Announced County seat social circles had a special interest in an informal reception given by Miss Lyda Davison, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T. J. Davison, of this place, at her home on Julian street Tuesday evening. Twenty young ladies were present and were admirably entertained by their hostess. A superior luncheon was served at 12 o'clock, after which the party broke up. Particular interest in the affair was due to the fact that Miss Davison will shortly be wedded to the Rev. W. H. Oldham, until recently pastor of the Ebensburg Christian Church, but now located at East Liverpool, Ohio. The wedding, so it is understood, will take place the latter part of the present month.
