Barnesboro Woman Shoots Foreign Man Foreign Woman Shoots at Man Five Times – Then Puts Bullet Through His Eye Barnesboro, March 8 This town again steps into the limelight of publicity with another probable murder. Mrs. Nicholete Kalutza is the leading character in the latest tragedy. She shot James Stanola almost directly between the eyes after six attempts and was obliged to reload her weapon to do so. The man is fatally wounded and was taken to the Memorial Hospital in Johnstown. The woman is lodged in the county jail at Ebensburg and is apparently not much perturbed over her act. She was given a preliminary hearing before Squire Brown. Details are lacking as to the cause of the shooting but those best acquainted with the facts relate a story which would seem to indicate that Mrs. Kalutza shot the man in self-defense. She resides along the railroad near the Walnut Mines on the outskirts of this town and, it is said, had a quarrel at noon today with her victim who came uninvited to her home. The wrangle continued for some time until finally Stanola, in a great rage, took hold of an empty shot gun and chased the woman through the house. Mrs. Kalutza secured a revolver and shot her pursuer once out of six attempts. The bullet from the .32-calibre revolver which she used ploughed its way into the man's left eye and lodged in the back of the skull. The woman must have displayed great nerve in doing the deed as it was necessary for her to reload the weapon to fire a sixth shot, the gun having only five chambers. When Constable Van Buren arrived on the scene a few minutes afterward, the woman stood near where her victim lay and was calmly surveying his motionless and bleeding body. When placed under arrest by the officer she made no attempt at resistance and without any apparent display of emotion walked along to the lock up. Dr. Wood gave the injured man medical attention but it is believed the wounds will prove fatal. Conducted Funerals: John W.
