Friday, 20 Mar 1908 Volume 42, Number 12 Local and Personal Mr. Frank Cassidy of Altoona visited his brother, Mr. R. V. Cassidy of this place on Sunday. Like his brother, our well-known tonsorial artist, Mr. Cassidy is also a barber. Miss Catharine Ivory, assistant principal of the Patton schools, spent Sunday with her brother-in-law and sister – Mr. and Mrs. Elmer F. Dimond of this place. Mr. C. A. Cauffield, a former Johnstown typo, is now employed in the FREEMAN office. Mr. W. H. Denlinger of Patton was in Ebensburg on Thursday afternoon attending the suit of Fred Moore vs. The Northern Cambria Street Railway Company of which company he is an official and while here paid THE FREEMAN office a pleasant call. Mrs. Catharine Dougherty, an aged and respected resident of the West Ward, is seriously ill at her home. Squire Thomas Brown of Barnesboro was brought up on an attachment for failure to appear at court as a witness. He purged himself of contempt of court and was ordered to pay the costs of the attachment. Poor Directors Hertzog and Cunningham came to Ebensburg this morning to view the damages to the barn on the poor farm and arrange for repairing same. Charles Hasson Esq. is confined to his home by sickness. Henry Friedhoff of Johnstown was a business visitor to Ebensburg yesterday. W. A. Kessler of Homestead was in Ebensburg on Tuesday. Mr. Kessler is president of the Loretto Club of Allegheny County. Frank Jones, Republican aspirant for the nomination for County Commissioner, was in Ebensburg on Monday, circulating among the voters of his particular faith. Samuel Whanebacker Altoona, Pa., March 19 -- Fleeing from railroad officers, Samuel Whanebacher, aged twenty, of Bennington, jumped over a steep embankment to escape arrest for trespassing and landed on a pile of ballast twenty-five feet below, fracturing his hip and sustaining internal injuries which may cause his death.
