Webb, as the defendant proved an alibi; the prosecutrix mistaking another man for Esch. Not so fortunate however was John Griffith of Cambria Township, charged by Ruth Gettys with a similar offense. The jury found him guilty in manner and form, as indicted which includes the offense of statutory rape, the prosecutrix having been under sixteen years of age at the time the offense was committed. [snip] Mike Zambick Thursday pleaded guilty to the murder of George Cecualetz. The latter was shot at Barnesboro Nov. 14, 1907, and died March 16, 1908. His attorney, Charles Hasson, had him plead guilty with the understanding that the degree of murder would not be higher than second. It was agreed also that the sentence would be only sufficient to meet the ends of justice. Judge Savidge heard testimony for the purpose of turning light on the case.
