Friday, 19 Mar 1909 Volume 43, Number 12 **[Paper is blurry in most sections] Local and Personal Miss Sophia Apel of this place, who had been visiting her nephew, Walter Apel in Pittsburg, returned home Tuesday. Alfred T. Isenberg returned home from Pittsburg Wednesday evening. Assistant Postmaster W. H. Davis and wife spent Sunday in Altoona visiting relatives. John L. Sechler of St. Michael was an Ebensburg visitor Friday. Mrs. Thomas G. Davis of the West ward has been seriously ill during the past week. Robert G. Davis, "Beulah," of Cambria Township, was critically ill Wednesday and for a time it was thought he might not recover. Mr. Davis has since recuperated somewhat and is improved. Cashier M. D. Bearer and wife and baby of Patton came to Ebensburg Thursday where Mrs. Bearer will stay a few days among relatives. May Locate in Virginia Sherman Clement of Julian Street and William W. Jones of High Street left Tuesday morning for Virginia. They will visit various sections of the state with a view to finding a suitable place in which to locate when they will return here for their families. Mrs. Parrish Very Ill Mrs. Mary Parrish, wife of Squire J. D. Parrish of Julian Street, who has been ill for some time with dropsy, is now in a very critical condition and her death is momentarily expected. Mrs. Parrish is 85 years of age. Her two sons, the Messrs. C. M. Parrish of Bellefonte and John M. Parrish of Pittsburg, were summoned to her bedside yesterday. Cambria Woman Regains Eyesight After Being Blind for Five Years She is now Able to See Indiana, Pa., March 18 Mrs. Barbara Diamond of Summerhill, Cambria County, who had been blind five years, recovered her sight here Friday through an operation performed by specialists here. A cataract in one of her eyes was removed. After a brief rest with relatives in Coral, Mrs. Diamond will return here to have a similar operation performed on the other eye. Judge Barker's Ailment Ex-Judge A. V. Barker of Ebensburg who recently returned from a lengthy stay at Southern Pines, N. C., has been suffering from sciatica and Monday went to Atlantic City in the hope that a stay there would improve his condition. He was accompanied by his son, Attorney Fred B. Barker, who last week returned from a visit at Florida points. King Congratulates Wright Brothers Edward of England Witnesses Some Real Flying at Pau Pau, March 18 King Edward witnessed two flights by Wilbur Wright. Wilbur and Orville Wright and their sister, Miss Wright, were presented to his majesty. Mr. Wright made the first ascension alone. He remained in the air for seven minutes, performing marvelous revolutions with the utmost precision around the King and his party and coming to the ground without difficulty. On the second flight Miss Wright was a passenger. His majesty warmly congratulated Mr. Wright.
