Michael Neff of Summerhill township paid a call at this office Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brett of Vintondale were visitors in town this week. Robert Gillen returned this week from Pittsburg where he spent several days on business. Simon Vaught of Allegheny Township was a business visitor in Ebensburg last Tuesday. Peter Long of Summerhill township was among the visitors to this office since our last time. Mrs. T. M. Richards and daughter, Miss Lottie, are visiting with friends at Columbus, O. Mrs. C. G. Straub of Moxham is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Port in this place. J. V. Heinze, one of Nanty-Glo's business men, was among the visitors to THE FREEMAN office Monday. Mrs. G. C. Port and children of this place are spending several days with friends and relatives in Altoona. Ex-Judge A. V. Barker returned home this week from a two weeks visit through the New England states. The Misses Florence Kellar, Estelle and Clara Geiselhart of Johnstown are visiting with friends in this place. Attorney and Mrs. George E. Wolfe and daughter of Johnstown were visitors in Ebensburg yesterday afternoon. Harry Scanlan, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Schroth and children; Miss Edith Schroth; Miss Marie Link and Miss Edith Bresack of Ebensburg; and William Scanlan Jr. of Johnstown, were among those who attended the 25th anniversary of Father Flick's ordination to the priesthood which was celebrated in Carrolltown yesterday. Miss Katie Kessler, prominent as one of Allegheny county's most progressive teachers, is visiting friends in Ebensburg and Loretto this week and will return to her home in Homestead after a ten days sojourn among old friends in Cambria county where she used to reside. The Misses Helen, Elizabeth and Dorothy James of Germantown, Philadelphia, will arrive in Ebensburg tomorrow to remain for several weeks with their relatives, Mr. and Mrs. M. H. James. Miss Sarah Murty of the Third ward, Johnstown, will leave Sunday next for New York, from which place she will board a steamer Tuesday, July 16 for Paris on a business trip. Miss Helen Barker and Miss Julia Lemon who are guests at the Barker home spent several days in Pittsburg this week, making the trip overland by automobile. Lloyd Evans of this place who is employed by the Eureka Supply company of Windber as a manger of the hardware department is home because of an injury to his leg. M. Fitzharris of Johnstown was a business visitor here Wednesday. Mike expects to help boost Johnstown on the coming tour of the north of the county. Mrs. Frank S. Gates who had been visiting friends and relatives here returned to her home in Driftwood, Pa., this week, where Mr. Gates is now employed. Joseph McCleary and wife of Johnstown, formerly residents of this place, spent several days with friends here this week. James Daley, one of South Fork's prominent hotel men, was a pleasant caller at THE FREEMAN office this week. Attorneys Charles Hasson and Philip N. Shettig of this place are in Clearfield this week attending to legal business. Miss Naomi Van Hook of Philadelphia is visiting at the home of Attorney and Mrs. Philip N. Shettig of this place Father Flick's Silver Jubilee The silver jubilee of the Rev. Father Lewis Flick, O. S. B. of Newark, N. J., was celebrated at Carrolltown yesterday with a solemn high mass in St. Benedict's Catholic church at 9 o'clock. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Father Gilbert O. S. B. of Newark, N. J., whose subject, "Dignity of the Priesthood," was ably handled. Assisting at the solemn high mass was the Rev. Father Wirtner, O. S. B. with the Rev. Father Gilbert, O. S. B. as deacon; the Rev. Father Dennis Severin of Pueblo, Col., as subdeacon and the following in the sanctuary: Thomas, Prior, James and Herman, O. S. B. of Carrolltown; Raphael, O. S. B. of St. Boniface and Modestus, O. S. B. of Nicktown. Father Flick is a son of Frank and Jane Flick of Carrolltown and was born and reared there. He has a large number of friends and relatives in the county and St. Benedict's church was crowded for the services. Helen Keller, Minus Three Senses, a Mental Giant Miss Helen Keller, of Boston, a famous blind, deaf and dumb writer, is spending her vacation at "Elmhurst," the summer cottage of Mrs. William Thaw near Cresson. Since coming here Miss Keller has been seen frequently about the mansion and despite her loss of the sense of sight, hearing and speech, she moves about with as much ease as one in possession of every faculty. Miss Keller has won world wide recognition because of her writing and possesses rare intellectual ability; her mastery of the English language is almost perfect and she is a frequent contributor to many of the largest magazines in the United States. Miss Keller came to Cresson primarily for the beneficial effect the mountain air has on her health.
