Democrat And Sentinel: (Ebensburg, Pa.) August 31, 1854
Mr. George Shaffer, fireman on the locomotive 'Westmoreland me' with an untimely end
on Wednesday evening last near Jefferson. Mr. S. was standing on the edge of the
platform watching the train to ascertain if all was right, when he accidentally
fell, the cars passing over his leg mashing it in such a manner, that he survived
but a few hours after it happened.
