Friday, 29 Jan 1909 Volume 43, Number 5 Deaths at Almshouse Man Admitted from Cresson Suddenly Succumbs to Heart Trouble Ebensburg, Jan. 28 -- James McCall, well known in Ebensburg as "Scotty," formerly employed by Dr. F. C. Jones, died at the Almshouse at 10:30 o'clock Saturday night of consumption. He was admitted to the institution November 25, 1908, and was fifty-five years of age. His remains were interred in Lloyd's cemetery. John Ragly, admitted to the Almshouse January 6, 1908, died there at 9:40 o'clock Sunday morning, aged seventy-seven years. He was admitted from Lilly and his remains are being held pending word from friends or relatives at that place. John Gospenets, aged twenty-eight years, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning in the Almshouse by Steward Gray. He was admitted to the County Home on November 30, 1908, from Cresson where the poor authorities found him suffering with heart trouble. He has no relatives. Jennie D. Santa, who was admitted to the Almshouse on Dec. 30, 1908, from the Altoona Hospital where she was taken from Carrolltown, suffering with consumption, died Tuesday night. She was a native of Italy and was eighteen years of age. J. S. Vandrea of Patton, a cousin of the deceased and the only relative in this locality, was notified of her death.
