Born April 27, 1916, in Windber, son of Frank Sr. and Juliana (Hydu) Beri from Hungary. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Emma Lutz; and brother, Frank Beri Jr. Survived by wife of 65 years, Mary (Snyder) Beri; these children, Alek Beri Jr., and wife, Lorraine, Maryland; Deborah Stufft of Windber; previously married to Gary James Stufft of Bedford, Pa, and Douglas Beri Sr., and wife, Roxanne, Vintondale; grandchildren, Kimberly Stufft, wife of Tim Bush; Douglas Beri Jr.; Carlin Beri; and Joseph Beri; and great-grand- children, Justin, Tyler and Abigail Bush. Retired coal miner from Berwind White Coal Co. and Valley Coal Co. Member of UMWA, where Alek was past president of Local 6410. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Gary Grau. Interment, Richland Cem. Additional Comments: Alek went to work for Berwind White Coal Company at the age of 15. His parents came from Zahony Hungary to the U.S. in 1913 looking for work. Frank Sr. and Frank Jr. Beri also were retired coal miners of Berwind White Coal Co. Alek went to school for air conditioning, refrigeration, tv repair and electricity. He had knowledge of repairing anything he came across. He was a very proud UMWA president until his death in 2005.
