Thursday, 23 Oct 1862 Volume 4, Number 4 Alexis Boartman We are sorry to chronicle the demise in hospital near Maryland Heights, a week or so ago of Alexis Boartman, a member of Co. K., 125th Penna. Vols. The deceased lived in Ebensburg at the date of his enlistment, his parents residing in Carroll twp. He was wounded in the foot at the battle of Antietam, it being thought his injury was but slight and the announcement of his death will doubtless surprise many of our readers. A moral, steady young man, he was beloved by all who knew him and universally respected. The letter from the 125th Vols., detailing the part sustained by that regiment in the battle of Antietam and printed in these columns two weeks since was written by him. Then he was full of life and hope and anxiously looking forward to the moment when he would be enabled to rejoin his companions in arms; now he fills a patriot's grave. Green be his memory!
