Friday, 25 Sep 1903 Bernard Bracken Bernard Bracken, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of the borough of Gallitzin, died in that place at 11 o'clock Saturday night from heart failure after an illness of but two days. Deceased was the second eldest child of Michael and Mary Bracken, for many years well-known residents of Conemaugh township where he was reared. He was born at Bolivar, Westmoreland county, Oct. 27, 1839. Mr. Bracken was never married and during his residence in Gallitzin, made his home with his aged aunt Margaret Whalen, at whose residence he died. He is survived by one brother, Michael, the well-known lumber man and contractor with whom he was employed of late years. He was an uncle of the Messrs. J. Hayden and Paul Bracken and Mrs. E. T. McNeelis of the First ward and Thomas Egan of Napoleon street, Johnstown, and also of the Cooney and McCabe families of East Conemaugh. The funeral took place Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, services being held in St. Patrick's church of which the deceased was a faithful member. Interment was made in St. Patrick's cemetery at Gallitzin.
