The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon, with burial in Pleasantview Cemetery on Benshoff Hill. The deceased was a member of Emory Fisher Post 30, Grand Army of the Republic, and it is likely the officers of that organization, will be in charge of the services at the grave. The deceased was born May 18, 1836, in Blacklick Township, Indiana County, and was a bother of Henderson Bracken and John Bracken, who are still residents of that county. William Bracken served three years in the Union Army during the Rebellion and had an enviable record. He enlisted in April, 1861, under Capt. A. J. Bolar, of Company H, 12th Pennsylvania Reserves, and was honorably discharged during the summer of 1864. He took part in a number of engagements, among these, the conflict at Gettysburg, in July 1863. He served in the same company with Capt. A. N. Hart and Dr. F. T. Overdorff and was identified with the Regiment Association of the 12th Reserves. Company H was recruited at Armagh. Almost 50 years ago, Mr. Bracken and Miss Elizabeth Duncan were married in Indiana County, where he learned the carpenter trade during his boyhood days. William Bracken came to Johnstown about 40 years ago to work for the Cambria Iron Company, relinquishing his duties over a year ago on account of impaired health. He is survived by his widow and these children: Charles, of West Taylor Township; Harry, of Dale Borough; Miss Florence, at home; Addie, wife of John Jenkins, of West Taylor Township; and Frank, of Baltimore. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, most of whom reside in this vicinity. Henderson Bracken, of Buffington, and John Bracken, of Blacklick, the deceased's brothers, were summoned to Johnstown last night. They will remain for the funeral.
