Friday, 15 Jun 1906 Volume 40, Number 23 Killed at Vintondale Sherman Buchanan Loses Life in Colliery Vintondale, June 11 Sherman Buchanan, aged about 20 years, was fatally injured in the Vinton colliery company's No. 3 Mine here about 7:40 Saturday morning. He died at his home at 10:15. The young man was employed on a cutting machine in the mine when a section of the mine roof fell, injuring him internally. Sherman Buchanan was well known here. He was the son of Gettis and Sadie Buchanan, who survive him, with one brother, Carvin, of the Nineteenth ward, Johnstown, and a sister, Mrs. J. H. Fitzgerald of Vintondale. The remains were taken overland from here to Armagh for burial this morning. The Buchanan family came here from Indiana county about two years ago.
