Friday, 6 Jan 1905 Volume XXXVIII, Number 52 Peter Burtnett At his home near Beaverdale, Summerhill Township, on Thursday, December 15th, 1904, after an illness of about six hours of diseases incident to advanced age, Peter Burtnett died, aged eighty-two years. The deceased was born in Perry County, Pa., but removed to Summerhill Township, Cambria County, where he had since resided some sixty-five years ago, about which time he joined the United Brethren Church, of which he was ever after a faithful member. He was an honest man in the broadest acceptation of the term, a good citizen and neighbor, highly esteemed in the community in which he lived. In early life he married Miss Catherine Shaffer and of this union the following children survive: Sarah Jane, wife of Frederick Wilt of Newry, Blair county; Elizabeth, wife of Amos Plummer of Portage; Mrs. Ellen Brenner of Portage; Annie, now Mrs. Austin Shaw of Newry, Blair county; W. K. Burtnett of Beaverdale. Mr. Burtnett's wife having died about thirty years ago, he afterward married Miss Margaret Plummer and two children: Phelman and Casper – with their mother, survive. The funeral, which was the largest that has ever taken place in the neighborhood, occurred on Sunday last, interment being made in the United Evangelical Cemetery at Mt. Union Church, after services by the Rev. H. A. Buffington of the United Evangelical Church of Windber.
