Friday, 1 Mar 1907 Volume 41, Number 9 Ebensburger Passes Away Sister Cecelia of the Order of Sisters of St. Joseph Died Saturday Night at 11 o'clock Where she Took Vows Sister Cecelia of the Order of Sisters of St. Joseph, at this place, died here at 11 o'clock Saturday evening, aged about fifty years. Her death was due to dropsy, with which she had suffered from some time, though her condition did not become serious until about three hours previous to her death. She was conscious to the last. Sister Cecelia was known in the world as Miss Annie Byrne and her home was at Cleveland, O. She entered the convent here when twenty years old. She was an instructor in parochial schools and taught here years ago. Her last charge was at Columbus, O. One of her sisters is a member of the Madams of the Sacred Heart. Another sister and a brother reside in Chicago. The funeral took place at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from the Holy Name Catholic Church, where a solemn requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Thomas O'Reilly of Columbus, O.; Father Smith of Altoona was deacon; Father J. J. Deasy of Gallitzin, sub-deacon; and Father O'Connor of Johnstown, was master of ceremonies. Other priests present were the Rt. Rev. Bishop Eugene A. Garvey of Altoona; Fathers Matthew and Thomas Smith of Altoona; Father Thomas Ryan of Lilly, Father James Egan of Wilmore; Father H. M. O'Neil of this place. Frank J. Hartmann, Philip N. Shettig, William A. McGuire, Charles Hasson, Dr. Donald H. Shoemaker and L. E. Kaylor and six Sisters were the pallbearers. Burial was made in the Sisters' plot in the old cemetery here.
