(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: June 20, 1873 Vincent Cassidy, aged about 18 years, son of Mr. John Cassidy, was drowned in the old Ashland furnace dam, in Clearfield township, on Sunday evening last, while bathing. Young Cassidy, who was unable to swim, was attempting to float with the aid of a plank, when the plank slipped from his grasp and he sank in deep water and was drowned within sight of two of his young associates, who were so much frightened by the occurrence that they were unable to render him any assistance.
