The Cambria freeman. (Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: July 21 & August 11, 1870
Died, on Friday, July 15th, at 7 o'clock, P. M., at his residence in Loretto,
Cambria Co., Pa., Mr. Peter Christy, in the 68th year of his age. Mr. Christy, one
of the earliest settlers of Loretto, was during his life, a model of every virtue,
and truly his death was that of the just. He was an affectionate husband, a devoted
father, a kind and generous neighbor, and above all an excellent Christian... Around
the bed of this dying saint stood his afflicted wife and eight sorrowing children,
one a religieuse of the Order of Mercy, another, Rev. R. C. Christy, the respected
pastor of Ebensburg, Cambria county, and many weeping relatives and friends...
