Democrat and sentinel: (Ebensburg, Pa.) 1853-1866: April 27, 1854
At his residence in Allegheny township, on the 20th April, inst,, John Coons, in the
92d year of his age.  The deceased was among the first settlers of Allegheny
township. He came to reside there in the year 1805, formed himself a home in the
wilderness, and continued to reside on the same farm up to the time of his death. He
had eleven children, eighty-five grand children and thirty great grand children. He
was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, an honest, upright man and a good
citizen; enjoying in an eminent degree the good will and esteem of his neighbors.
May he rest in peace.
