Callan Called by Death [left side of article cut off] Thomas F. Callan, for a number of years one of the leading citizens of [cut off], a man who made friends wherever he was known and whose life was of [cut off] as a public spirited citizen, died at the Memorial Hospital in Johnstown Tuesday morning of typhoid fever and uremic poisoning. Death came [cut off] as he was unconscious for [cut off] before the end. Callan was held last Friday morning in St. Aloysius Catholic Church at the Summit. It was the largest ever held in that vicinity, the church being crowded. A solemn high mass of requiem was said with the Rev. Father Francis Hertzog of Pittsburg, a school friend of the deceased at St. Francis College at Loretto, as the celebrant. The Rev. Father James Gaven (sic), pastor of St. Aloysius parish, was deacon; the Rev. Father Thomas Ryan of Lilly, sub-deacon, and the Rev. Father Joseph Farren of the local orphanage was master of ceremonies. The Rev. Father Graven preached the sermon.
