Friday, 24 Feb 1905 Volume 39, Number 7 Thomas J. Chapman Prof. Thomas J. Chapman, former Superintendent of Schools of Cambria County, died Sunday at his home in Ingram, Allegheny county. Death was due to a stroke of paralysis which occurred February 14th. Mr. Chapman is well known in Johnstown, having been a teacher in the city schools and also in Franklin borough. The deceased was a native of Indiana county, having been born at Blairsville in 1836. He began his profession of teaching in his home county at the age of nineteen. From Indiana county he came to Cambria county and after his work in Johnstown, he was elected County Superintendent, which position he filled for three terms. He is survived by his wife and three children: Alva B. Chapman, Mrs. Nellie C. Brown and Mrs. Charles A. Stevenson. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Ingram.
