All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ Charles Colbert Johnstown Daily Tribune 21 Sep 1943 CHARLES COLBERT, 81, FORMER LOCAL MAN, EXPIRES IN SPANGLER Charles Colbert of Cherry Tree, formerly of Johnstown, died early today in Spangler Hospital. He was in his 82nd year. Born Oct. 14, 1861, at Ashtola, he was a son of Robert J. and Mary Catherine (Peer) Colbert. He was a twin brother of Mrs. Ida Miller, who died 10 years ago in Walnut Grove. Mr. Colbert's father served for a time as an Evangelical minister and later was engaged in the undertaking business here. He died shortly before the Johnstown Flood of 1889. Mrs. Colbert, mother of Charles, died in 1904 in Westmont. Charles Colbert was married to Sarah Mauk, who died a number of years ago. Three children survive. They are Gertha, wife of Frank Beamish, Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Ida McAnulty, Cherry Tree, with whom the deceased had resided during the past year, and Homer Samuel Colbert, 736 McMillen St. A son, Robert, died in Altoona about six years ago. Charles Colbert was a brother of Harry Colbert, Wesley Chapel, and Mrs. Bella Wonders, 628 Pine St. Ten brothers and sisters are deceased. Arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Colbert are incomplete.
