All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm ************************************************ Johnstown Daily Tribune 5 Dec 1946 Harry Colbert Dies at Age 83 Harry Colbert, 83, an East Taylor Twp. farmer for 50 years, died at 1:15 p.m. yesterday at his home at Wesley Chapel. Mr. Colbert had served as road supervisor in East Taylor Twp. for three terms and at one time was a foreman for the Johnstown Water Company. He was born in what is now the Eighth Ward on Apr. 10, 1863, a son of Robert and Catherine (Pier) Colbert. His wife, the former Catherine Cute, died 15 years ago. Surviving are nine children - Mrs. Ella Moore, Mrs. Grace Varner and Harry and Charles Colbert, all of East Taylor Twp.; Robert, Johnstown; Mrs. Catherine Munday, Parkhill; Mrs. Annie Varner, South St.; Edgar, Wesley Chapel, and Dewey, Belsano. One sister, Mrs. Belle Wonder, 628 Pine St., and 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren also survive. Mr. Colbert had eight grandsons in the Army and one granddaughter, Miss Helen Munday, in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. One grandson, Lawrence D. Varner, was killed in Italy on Jan. 9, 1944. Friends are being received at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Herman Munday, Parkhill. Services will be held at the Munday home at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. G.E. Letchworth. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Carl E. Davis Funeral Home.
