CONRAD Henry G. Conrad died at his home near Ashville at 11 o'clock Wednesday night, December 10, 1902. Death was due partly to old age and partly to a complication of diseases. Henry G. Conrad was born in this section on August 7, 1827 and so was past seventy-five years of age. In 1850 he was united in marriage with Miss Pauline Settlemeyer, the ceremony being performed in the Catholic church at Wilmore. His wife answered the Great Summons about five years ago. About 33 years ago Mr. Conrad and family moved from Wilmore to a farm near Ashville and there he remained until his death. He engaged in farming and lumber and mill business. He is survived by nine children, as follows: William, of Dean; Andrew, of Allegheny Township; Henry I., of Clearfield Township; Robert, of Cresson; Thomas, of Ashville; Mrs. John Hart of Altoona; Lewis, of Ashville; Mrs. Henry Swanhart, of Cresson; and Augustine, of Ashville. One sister survives - Mrs. John Gibbons of Chest Springs. Mr. Conrad was a veteran of the civil war and a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. In his death, the community loses one of its most worthy citizens. He was a man of many good parts and his end will be taken as a personal loss by a host of admiring relatives and friends. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Saturday) morning. A high mass of requiem will be celebrated in St. Thomas church, Ashville at 10:30 o'clock after which interment will be made in the cemetery connected with the church.
