Friday morning, 16 Aug 1872 Accidents. William Criste, a lad aged about fifteen, son of Josiah M. Criste, Esq., resident at Gallitzen, was fatally injured on Thursday evening, the 8th inst., at Cresson. The boys at Gallitzen have long been in the practice of jumping on passing trains and riding to Cresson, and after enjoying themselves at that fashionable resort returning by the same method. Young Criste with several others, was attempting to board a passing train on this occasion, when by a mis-step, as it is supposed, he fell under the wheels and was so badly mangled that he died before morning. Dr. J. H. Cristy, the lad's uncle, and Dr. Gamble of this place, were promptly summoned to his relief, but too late to be of any service. What a warning to boys.
