Friday, 7 Dec 1906 Volume 40, Number 49 Fatal Lamp Explosion Patton Woman, Terribly Burned Last Week, Died Tuesday and was Buried Yesterday The funeral of Mrs. Oscar Donday who died Tuesday morning from burns received one day last week, when a lamp exploded, setting fire to her clothing and burning her terribly, was held at Patton yesterday. Mrs. Dunday (sic), it is understood, was putting away some clothing. A lamp which was standing near her suddenly exploded and the burning oil was thrown over her. Enveloped in flames, the woman ran out of the house. Her husband followed and after hard work, succeeded in smothering the blaze but his wife had been burned so badly in some places that the flesh dropped off. Drs. J. A. and V. A. Murray dressed her burns, but as the woman had inhaled the flames, nothing much could be done for her. Her husband and several children survive. A daughter of the deceased is married to George Linbloom of Derry.
