Democrat and sentinel: (Ebensburg, Pa.) 1853-1866: August 26, 1857
At his residence, in Ebensburg, on Sunday morning, August 9th, of disease of the
heart, Edward Evans, (Tanner) in the 71st year of his age. The deceased is deserving
of something more than a passing notice. He was born in Monmouthshire. Wales, in
October, 1786, and first came to America in 1808. From thence until 1839 or 1840, he
spent much of his time travelling through the United States and British Provinces,
merely sojourning in our county at intervals. Since 1840, however, he has resided
permanently in Ebensburg...
