Friday, 19 Jul 1907 Volume 41, Number 29 Killed at Barnesboro Leo Calvin Flick of Altoona, a brakeman on the Cambria & Clearfield division of the Pennsylvania railroad, died at the Altoona Hospital Friday evening as a result of injuries sustained while at work in the yard at Barnesboro Wednesday morning. Flick left Altoona early in the morning and at Barnesboro yards the train stopped to do some shifting. While this was being done, Flick was standing on the rear of the engine tender and when the cars came together, he was jolted off and fell to the tracks. The wheels of the engine passed over his left leg, mangling it badly. As assistance was slow in coming, he raised himself and dragging the injured leg, hoppled over hundred yards before the loss of blood caused him to become too weak to go further. He was left at the Barnesboro station until an afternoon train came along and at 2 in the afternoon, when admitted to the institution, his condition was considered serious. He gradually grew weaker until death resulted. The funeral will take place Monday morning, the body being taken to Loretto, where interment was made in St. Michael's cemetery.
