Friday, 27 Jan 1905 Volume 39, Number 3 Charles F. Gill Charles F. Gill, one of Cambria county's oldest and most highly respected citizens, died Saturday morning at the home of his son in Chest township, of diseases incident to old age. Mr. Gill, who was born in Germany, 82 years ago, came to this country when quite young, being a resident of Cambria county the greater part of his life. In 1843 he married Catharine Kiblen to which union eleven children were born, nine of whom are still living. They are: Jacob Gill, Michael Gill and Mrs. George Meintel of Altoona; Mrs. John Drass of Hollidaysburg; Lawrence Gill and Mrs. Nelson Shuss of Patton, Pa.; Philip Gill, Chas. Gill and Mrs. J. Rhiner of St. Lawrence, Pa. Besides these children and his wife, he is also survived by over 75 grand and great grand children. He was a life long member of the Catholic church and the last sad rites of his faith were administered to him just before his death in the presence of all his children. Solemn requiem high mass was said over his remains on Tuesday morning at St. Lawrence at which the Rev. Father Yeager (a nephew of the deceased) officiated. Interment was made at St. Lawrence.
