Summons Came Very Suddenly
Millard Good, Prominent Ebensburger and Member of Council, 
Dead

Millard Good of the West Ward, a prominent citizen of 
Ebensburg and a member of council for the past five years, 
died very suddenly at his home this Friday morning, August 
27, 1909, as the result of a stroke of apoplexy, aged 
fifty-three years.

Mr. Good had been enjoying his accustomed good health and 
had been attending to the duties of his employment as 
caretaker of the Ebensburg Inn property of Mr. D. E. Parks 
during the day.  Thursday evening he was about as usual and 
talked to friends and in the evening returned to his home 
at the usual hour and talked to his wife and family for 
sometime before retiring for the night.

About 11:30 o'clock Mrs. Good was awakened from her sleep 
by her husband's elbow striking her.  She spoke to her 
husband but was unanswered.  Mrs. Good noticed that Mr. 
Good was twitching and she at once summoned Doctors F. C. 
Jones and Harry J. Bennett.  When the doctors arrived they 
found Mr. Good suffering from a stroke of apoplexy.  He 
never regained consciousness and at four o'clock this 
morning died without having spoken from the hour when he 
and Mrs. Good retired.

Mr. Good was a son of the late John Good, who was a well 
known Cambria Township farmer, and who died some years ago.  
His mother, Mrs. Ann Good, is still living and resides with 
her son, Mr. Christ Good of the West ward.

Millard Good has resided in Ebensburg for many years and 
was one of the town's prominent citizens.  When the West 
ward was divided into the Centre and West wards, Mr. Good 
was elected to Council from the new West ward, and at the 
time of his death was serving the second year of his second 
term as a councilman.  Mr. Good for some years past had 
been the caretaker and gardener for Mr. D. E. Parks, the 
owner of a handsome summer home and Ebensburg Inn property 
and the beautiful grounds surrounding the buildings are a 
testimonial of Mr. Good's skill and good taste.

The deceased is survived by his mother, above mentioned, 
and his wife, Mrs. Annie Hughes Good, who is a daughter of 
the late Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Hughes, and the following 
children:  Irvin, Butler, Emma and Eva, all at home and 
Wellington, who has been a patient for sometime in a 
Pittsburg sanitarium.  He is also survived by the following 
brothers, Aaron and Henry of Cambria Township and Christ, 
who is assistant warden at the County Jail.

The funeral arrangements have not as yet been completed but 
it is expected that the funeral will take place on Sunday 
afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Christian church in this 
place, of which the deceased had been a lifelong member and 
after services by Rev. H. Mahon, the interment will be made 
in Lloyd cemetery.
