Friday, 17 May 1907 Volume 41, Number 20 Death of Ira Gray The funeral of Ira Gray, the young school teacher who died at the home of his parents, John A. and Esther Gray in Jackson township, took place at 1:30 o'clock last Friday afternoon and was probably the largest ever held in that section, more than 80 carriages being in the procession. A large number of relatives and friends of the family from a distance were present, among them being Andrew Gray of Pittsburg, a retired Pennsylvania engineer; Mrs. Andrew Gray, Miss Ellen Jacoby and John Plender, all of Pittsburg; and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gray of Indiana. Others from Ebensburg, South Altoona and Johnstown also attended. Among the many floral offerings was a wreath presented by his people of the Nant-y-Glo public schools, the music was furnished by a quartet consisting of District Attorney Leech, Attorney Bert Davis, the Rev. Mr. Sigman and druggist Tibbott of Ebensburg. The services were conducted by the Rev. J. S. Bowman of the Berlin Progressive Brethren church who was assisted by the Rev. Stephen Hildebrand. The pallbearers were from the Patriotic Order Sons of America of which the deceased was a member. About 50 members of the order were in attendance and the services at the grave were under the auspices of that organization. Interment was in Munday's cemetery.
