GRIFFITH CALLED BY DEATH Valley Pike Resident Employee of Cambria Plant 37 Years John R. Griffith of Valley Pike, a native of Bedford County and resident of this city for the past 40 years, died at 1:25 o'clock this morning in the Memorial Hospital of an intestinal ailment. He was 66 years old. Mr. Griffith became ill four weeks ago and was admitted to the hospital June 4. Up until the time of his illness, the deceased worked as a machinist in the Franklin axle plant of the Bethlehem Steel Company, by which company he was employed for the past 37 years. Born September 8, 1871, at Spring Meadow, Bedford County, Mr. Griffith was a son of the late John and Sara (Miller) Griffith. He came to this city shortly after the flood of 1889 and lived in Moxham for 23 years before moving to Valley Pike, between Ferndale and Benscreek, to make his home. Mr. Griffith and Civilla Blough were united in marriage April 17, 1902, in Moxham. In addition to his wife, the deceased is survived by his son John of Valley Pike, intermarried with Mary Cunningham, and the following brothers and sisters—Scott M. Griffith of 824 Sherman Street, Miss Gertrude Griffith of Franklin Street, Mrs. Ralph Caspari of Akron, O., and Statler Griffith of Atoka, Okla. Funeral services will be conducted a 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Second Brethren Church, Moxham, of which the deceased was a member. Rev. George H. Jones, pastor, and Rev. Walter Nowag will officiate. Interment will be in the Richland Cemetery under direction of W.C. Flick, local mortician. Additional Comments: John was predeceased by these brothers and sisters: Clarence Griffith, Joseph Grant Griffith, Sarah Belle Griffith, Mrs. Ellen Rue Hull and Mrs., Virginia Crofford.
