Tuesday, 10 Mar 1891 Fatal Accident on the Railroad. Johnstown Tribune, March 9: About 6 o'clock yesterday morning the remains of a man were found on the Somerset and Cambria railroad in the vicinity of Ferndale. The body was chopped into pieces, which were scattered along the track for a distance of fully 200 yards. The head looked as if it had been squeezed between the car bumpers. The body was this morning identified by friends as that of George Hampdon, employed at the mines of the Ingleside Coal company, above Bethel, of which Mr. Alfred Slater is superintendent. He was about 25 years old, and, it is said, had a brother working at a mine in Clearfield county. An effort will be made to communicate with the brother before the remains are buried.
