Hanlin Dead Daniel P. Hanlin, who was so badly injured by a fall of coal in Myers' coal bank and who died recently, left a great number of friends in the vicinity of Ashville. The deceased, who was aged 47 years, 5 months and 30 days, was married Sept. 10, 1889 to Miss Mary Hollis, who with the following children survives him: Miss Ethel, who is a teacher in the township schools; Francis, Cyril, Walter, Gervase, Raymond, Anna, Harold and Edward, all at home. He is also survived by his aged father, James Hanlin and one brother, both of Chicago. Mr. Hanlin was a man of unassuming manner and had the friendship of all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. The esteem in which he was held was testified to by the large funeral, the largest ever held in Ashville. He was a consistent member of the Catholic Church from early childhood and died a triumphant death. He was attended by the Rev. Father Dwyre, who administered the last rites of the church. His remains were laid to rest in St. Thomas' Cemetery after a requiem Mass and a touching and beautiful sermon by the pastor. The floral offerings were beautiful, among which was an anchor, presented by the board of supervisors and a lovely cross, presented by the Y. M. L. who attended the funeral in a body. He was a kind and loving husband and father, an obliging neighbor, and will be greatly missed by all who shared his acquaintance. The bereaved wife and children have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community and they wish to return their sincere thanks to all the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted them in their hours of bereavement. "His hands lie folded on his breast, Crossed like the cross that gave him rest. His spirit, clothed in heavenly love, Looks smiling down from realms above." [signed D.]
