Wednesday Morning, May 8, 1918 LILLY MINER DIES OF HURTS HAD IN FALL John G. Hassenpflug of Lilly, who suffered a slight injury to his head when he fell to the floor, just after arising from his bed two weeks ago Monday morning, died at the Altoona hospital at 2:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of meningitis, aged 38 years. Mr. Hassenpflug, who was a miner, arose from his bed to dress for work, two weeks ago Monday morning, but as he stepped to the floor he fell over, striking his head on the floor. A physician was called and after treating him for a week, ordered his removal to the Altoona hospital. The man spent his entire life at Lilly, and besides his wife is survived by three children, Berdina, Hazel and Walter, all at home and the following brothers and sisters: Henry of Altoona, Lawrence of Juniata, William of Allentown, George, Adam and Charles of Lilly, Miss Kathrine of Philadelphia, Mrs. Adam Goepfert, Mrs. Elijah Felter of Oneida, Mrs. Ida Huffman of Pottsville. He was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Lilly P.O.S. of A. and the United Mine Workers of America. The remains will be sent to Lilly this morning by Roher and Mauk, Juniata undertakers, and the funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon.
