Friday, 24 Feb 1911 Volume 44, Number 8 Miss Mary Hauk Miss Mary H. Hauk died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Catherine F. Sloan Tuesday morning Feb. 14th of a complication of diseases, aged 42 years. She had been in poor health for several years. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Hauk who were among the early settlers of Carroll Township. She is survived by one brother, Fredrick, who resides on the old homestead farm in Carrolltown and one sister, Mrs. G. H. Sloan of Carrolltown. For many years she was associated in the mercantile business with her brother, John J. Hauk, who died about two years ago. Miss Hauk was well known and had many friends and relatives in this vicinity. The funeral took place on Friday morning after solemn high mass in St. Benedict Catholic Church of which she was a devoted member. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining.
