Heist is Dead Former Well Known Ebensburg Citizen Passes Away in Philadelphia The Philadelphia PRESS of Wednesday morning contained the following sad intelligence of the sudden death of Thomas H. Heist, a former resident of Ebensburg: "Thomas H. Heist, head of the Blaisdell Paper Pencil Company died Tuesday at his home at Jenkintown. He was 70 years of age. His death was unexpected and came as a great shock to his relatives and friends. Mr. Heist was former owner of the Bolten House at Harrisburg and was one of the original directors of the Harrisburg Light, Heat & Power Company and a director in many financial institutions. He will be buried in Harrisburg. Mr. Heist came to Ebensburg probably 25 years ago and for some time conducted the Mountain House in this place. He later built the Maple Park Springs summer hotel here, now known as the Ebensburg Inn. This was purchased from him some four or five years ago by Mr. D. E. Park and Mr. Heist moved to Philadelphia to make his home. He was a good citizen and a very enterprising man, through his shrewdness and energy, accumulating considerable wealth. His many friends here will be sorry to learn of his death. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Stewart and Lee, and three daughters, Mrs. Tracy Keedy of Lewiston, Ia., and Miss Lola and Miss Norma, at home. Funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock from his late residence.
