Friday, 16 Mar 1906 Volume 40, Number 10 Passes to His Reward Well-Known Resident of Clearfield Township Dies from Pneumonia Bart Hobart, one of the most prominent and successful farmers in Clearfield township, died at his home Thursday morning about 4 o'clock from pneumonia, contracted during the last week. Mr. Hobart had always been a man of robust constitution and his sudden serious illness and unexpected death has proved a sad shock to his many friends. The deceased was united in marriage about 30 years ago to Miss Catharine Shield, of Loretto, who survives him in addition to the following children: Peter of Pittsburg; Paul of West Virginia; John, who is in the service of the United States Navy; George and Walter, at home; Mary, wife of Weston Miller of Braddock; Nellie, wife of L. M. Little of Alleghany township; Mattie, Gertrude and Katie, who are at present making their home in Pittsburg. The deceased was about 65 years old at the time of his death, was a veteran of the Civil War and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. During the period of his residence in Clearfield township the deceased was prominently identified with politics, having been an enthusiastic Democrat and was for a number of years a member of the school board in his district. One brother, John of Hastings, and a sister, Mary, wife of Timothy O'Leary, also survive. After Requiem High Mass at St. Augustine's Catholic Church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, interment will be made in the church cemetery at St. Augustine.
