Friday, 25 Oct 1907 Volume 41, Number 43 Mrs. Eva Hodges Ebensburg friends of Mrs. Eva Hodges, adopted daughter of Attorney F. A. Shoemaker of Ebensburg, have received notification of her death on October 12th at her home in San Juan, Porto [sic] Rico. The deceased recently underwent a delicate operation. She was 29 years of age and her parents died when she was but two year old. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa. After the death of her parents she was adopted by Mr. Shoemaker, who was then living in the west and who located to Ebensburg in 1880. Mrs. Hodges received a thorough education and was a talented musician. She was united in marriage in 1901 with George Hodges at Pittsburg, and shortly afterward the couple went to Porto [sic]Rico to reside.
