Mr. John R. Hopfer, of Carroll township, whose serious illness was 
mentioned in last week's FREEMAN, died at his home on Saturday evening, 
November 30th, aged 68 years.  Mr. Hopfer's death was caused by dropsy.  
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, one of the latter being 
Mrs. Joseph Weakland of Ebensburg.  Mrs. Mary Maisel, of Ebensburg, is 
a sister of the deceased.  The funeral took place on Wednesday morning, 
the interment being made in St. Benedict's cemetery at Carrolltown 
beside the remains of his wife, who has been dead for a number of 
years.
