Friday, 30 Aug 1907 Volume 41, Number 35 Jonathan Lewis Jonathan Lewis, a well known resident of Ebensburg, died at his home in Center ward at 8 o'clock Friday morning, aged about 59 years. Mr. Lewis' death was the result of paralysis with which he was stricken about three weeks ago while at work on a farm near town, where he was doing some carpenter work. He was stricken while eating his lunch and for a time was in a critical condition. Later he rallied somewhat and was removed to his home, where he had since been bedfast. Jonathan D. Lewis was born May 27, 1847 in North Ebensburg, Cambria Township. He was the son of the late Rev. D. B. and Margaret Lewis. About 24 years ago Mr. Lewis married Mary Jones of Cambria Township. Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Morris Lewis of Johnstown, and one step-son, Alvin Davis of Westmont. There are also two step-daughters: Mrs. Ernest Apel of Homestead and Mrs. Timothy Roberts of Cambria Township. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: David and William; Mrs. Mary Owen, widow of David Owen; Mrs. Mary Hughes, widow of William Hughes, all of Cambria Township and Joseph Lewis of Pittsburg. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the late home of the deceased, the services being in charge of the Rev. J. T. Jones, pastor of the Congregational church, assisted by the Rev. William Bryn Jones, pastor of the Calvinistic Methodist Church and the Rev. Jesse Hughes of Ohio, who is visiting relatives in Ebensburg. Interment was made in Lloyd's cemetery.
