Friday, 17 Mar 1911 Volume 45, Number 11 Mrs. Abel Lloyd Dead Mrs. Abel Lloyd, one of the best known women of the north of the county, died Tuesday night at her home in Ebensburg in her 79th year. Her maiden name was Anne Gardner. She was born in England, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner. She came to America with her parents when she was five years old. The family settled in Pittsburg where the father died in 1837. Miss Gardner was married to Abel Lloyd, then a resident of Pittsburg in 1853. The couple lived in Johnstown for three or four years and then moved to Ebensburg in 1857. Mr. Lloyd died there in February, 1903. Mr. Lloyd at one time was county commissioner and for 30 years was passenger agent at Ebensburg. Six children survive Mrs. Lloyd: Mary Jane, wife of Carl Rivinius, Ebensburg; John G. Lloyd, Postmaster of Ebensburg; Margaret A., widow of Fred Spiller; Anne, wife of Attorney Mathiot Reade of Ebensburg and Isabelle and Martha, at home. Funeral services were held at the home at 8:30 o'clock Thursday evening by the Rev. T. R. Taggart, pastor of the Presbyterian Church and private interment took place Friday morning in Lloyd's Cemetery.
