Thursday, 11 Dec 1890 Killed by a Wagon. Johnstown Tribune, December 10: About ten minutes past 2 o'clock this afternoon a boy named Otto Maiser, son of Mr. Henry C. Maiser, was run over by a wagon on Kernville hill, and received injuries from which he died a short time afterward. The boy's parents live on the hill near the school house, at what is known as "Horseshoe bend." He and another brother had gone up the hill to gather wood and were on their way home when the accident occurred. The wagon which killed him belonged to Mr. Robert Barkley and was used for hauling brick to the new town of Westmont. It is not known who was the driver nor exactly how the accident happened. The boy was carried into the home of his parents by a strange man - presumably the driver - who said he had been struck by a wagon. He was still alive. Dr. George W. Wagoner was summoned, and found that his right side was crushed from the shoulder to the hip, his shoulder crushed and other injuries inflicted. A few minutes after the doctor arrive the boy died. The doctor says it is very evident the boy was run over by the wagon. His father works for Mr. August Brademire, superintendent of Grand View cemetery. 1900 Upper Yoder Township, Cambria County census – Henry C.
