Martin Sr., the father of Attorney F. P. Martin of Johnstown, died Saturday at his home in Easton, Pa., aged 77 years and 4 days. His condition, however, did not become serious until Thursday, when Attorney Martin was summoned to his bedside. Frank P. Martin Sr. was born Nov. 18, 1830 at Pottsville, Schuylkill County. His father was Peter Martin, who with his wife came to this country in 1827 and locating in the eastern part of the state, followed the vocation of a contractor. The deceased learned the machinist trade and later became an engineer. He was for many years the master mechanic of the Lehigh & Susquehanna Railroad and later became identified with the New Jersey Central Railroad and the Philadelphia & Reading lines. About 10 years ago he retired from active life. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers since 1867 and was enrolled in the organization at the time of his death. Besides Attorney Martin, Johnstown, he is survived by the following children: John T. Martin and Mrs. A. L. Garren of New York and Mrs. John McCloskey of Easton. Attorney Martin returned to Johnstown Saturday morning and did not learn of his father's death until he arrived there. In company with Mrs. Martin he left Sunday for Easton to attend the funeral which was held Monday.
