Friday, 16 Oct 1908 Volume 42, Number 40 Aged Monk is Dead Brother Massenjuser Passes Away at Carrolltown of Infirmities Incident to Advanced Years Carrolltown, Oct. 15 -- Brother Lawrence Massenjuser, aged 87, died here this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock following illnesses incident to his advanced age. He was born in Bavaria, Aug. 15, 1821. Aug. 17, 1851, at St. Vincent's church, some years after he emigrated to this country, he pronounced the solemn vows and entered the old brotherhood of monks. He was one of the pioneer settlers in this section of Cambria County and among the leaders in the establishment of Catholic Church in the early days when Cambria was young. There is but one of the old order of the brotherhood alive since the death of Brother Massenjuser. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock with a requiem high mass at St. Benedict's Catholic Church at this place. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
