Friday, 20 Dec 1912 Volume 45, Number 50 Estimable Woman Dead Miss Catherine Mathiot, 86 years old, died at 8 o'clock Saturday evening at the home of her nephew, Attorney Mathiot Reade on High Street. Her funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with services at 1:30 o'clock at the Reade home. The Rev. W. H. Dyer of Millerstown, Fayette county, who preached on Sunday in the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, was in charge of the services. Miss Catherine Mathiot was a daughter of the late Jacob D. Mathiot, a prominent ironmaster of Westmoreland County and was born at Rose Iron Works, Westmoreland county, May 3, 1826. She came to Ebensburg in 1868 and had since lived with the George M. Reade family. Besides Attorney Reade, she is survived by two nephews in the west and two nieces, Mrs. Edward Fith of Overbrook, Kan., and Mrs. Mary Briggs of Chicago. Miss Mathiot was a highly estimable woman and all who knew her loved her. She possessed many rare qualities.
