Friday, 5 Feb 1909 Volume 43, Number 6 Killed En Route to the Almshouse! Struck by a Train While Returning From a Visit While walking back along the railroad from Lilly where he had spent Sunday with friends, Dennis McCall, aged 63 years, an inmate of the County Home near here, was run down by a train Thursday morning and instantly killed. Mr. McCall was well regarded by the almshouse authorities, being at all times cheerful and a good worker. Latterly he had been employed as hostler for Steward John A. Gray. He got permission last Saturday evening to spend Sunday with friends at Lilly and walked the nine miles to that place. It is supposed that he was returning when, as he struck off from the highway to the railroad near Munster station, he was hit by the northbound passenger train. The body was bought to Ebensburg on a special engine and conveyed to the County Home where it was prepared for burial. The funeral was held today. Mr. McCall is not known to have any living relatives. He was admitted to the County Home from Barnesboro on January 8th of this year.
