McGough Mr. James Edward McGough died at his home near St. Augustine, Monday, October 18 of carcynoma (sic). The deceased was born in Clearfield Township, near Loretto, Cambria County, April 13th, 1834 and was the son of Margaret Glass and James McGough. He was a great grandson of Jacob Glass, a pioneer of central Pennsylvania and a grandson of George Glass, one of the early settlers of Cambria County. Forty-one years ago James McGough married Miss Alice Wharton, the second daughter of Catherine Bender and Joseph Wharton of St. Augustine, who with the following children survive him: Ella, wife of Joseph Kane of Altoona, Pa.; Albert, now living in Montana; Robert of Pittsburg; George of Seattle, Washington; Catherine, Margaret, James, Joseph. Raymond. Edgar and Irene, at home. Also two grandchildren, Edward and Margaret Kane. Mr. McGough had nine brothers and sisters, only one of whom survives him, Mr. Silas A. McGough of Altoona, Pa. High Mass of Requiem was sung by Rev. Father Walsh on Wednesday morning, October 20th at 9:30 and was largely attended. Interment in the family lot in St. Augustine Cemetery.
