Friday, 19 Apr 1912 Volume 45, Number 16 Explosion Victim Dies Assistant Foreman William McNally of the Ebensburg Coal company operations at Colver, who was terribly injured by an explosion while demonstrating the use of a new brand of safety powder to a miner Friday afternoon, died at the hospital in Colver Saturday. McNally, while holding the powder stick, inadvertently brought together the ends of two live wires which he was also holding. The spark ignited the powder. A piece of flesh torn from McNally's hand was forced into his eyeball by the force of the explosion. McNally was 35 years old and leaves a widow with four children. He was an excellent mine employee and well known.
