Friday, 13 Jan 1905 Volume 39, Number 1 Crushed Between Car Bumpers Nantyglo, Jan. 7 Edward Miller, a brakeman, aged thirty years, was crushed to death between the bumpers of two passenger cars at 5 o'clock this morning while making a coupling on the Blacklick Branch, about 100 yards above the local station. Mr. Miller came to this place from Snowshoe and had been employed by the Nantyglo Coal Company until two weeks ago when he entered the services of the railroad company. He made his first trip as brakeman on the branch passenger train yesterday and was helping to make up the train for his second run this morning when he met with the fatal accident. Just how the casualty occurred is not known, but his body was found clamped between the bumpers of two cars which he had been directed to couple. The remains were removed to the undertaking establishment of J. F. Singer. The dead man was unmarried and made his home with his brother, Nathan Miller, of this place. The funeral took place Monday, services being conducted at the Bethel Baptist Church.
